Why This Website?
There are many websites out there that share articles and points of view on Catholicism. In one sense, this is but one more. Yet I felt driven to create this site because my style of writing, my unique way of making a point, has a place out there because it is somewhat unusual.
Many, if not most, writers on this topic will go to exhaustive lengths to research and quote writings of the popes and the doctors of the church, etc., to make the point du jour. I respect and admire that effort, although it is certainly one that has been made easier in the age of the internet. At the same time, I choose not to use that approach because sometimes the same quote will be used to support both sides of an argument. The internet enables everyone to be an expert, or at least to imagine they are.
However, Catholics have been finding the need to answer difficult questions and to just simply know their faith long before the internet came to be, and I believe that there is value in a common-sense, faith-based approach to many questions using what was available 200 years ago, and this is what my approach is based on. I am not opposed to the writings of the popes, etc., but it is not the only way and, depending on the audience, not always the best way. That said, I may make an occasional reference to reinforce relevance and importance.
Rather, I like to break down issues in ways that people perhaps aren't used to looking at them in order to hopefully prompt the right questions to be asked. Sometimes I use an op/ed style depending on the topic.
The topics covered herein will be mostly related to Catholicism with a possible foray into the arts, business, or maybe even the dreaded arena of politics. If you like what you see, share it with others using the links at the bottom of each page.
Thank you for visiting.
